The Latin American Organization is a cultural and non-profit organization dedicatated to the general development of the student body. The purpose of this organization is to strengthen its members’ understanding of the Latin American languages and cultures, through its promotion of diversity and understanding. This will be accomplished through organized formal and informal social and civic activities, trips, festivals, movies, dancing, guest lectures, conferences, food and an extraordinary time.

The vice president assists the president in the organization of programs and the general administration of the club. The vice president is primarily responsible for publicity. This should be accomplished through: advertising via the radio or posters, and announcements wherever considered appropriate. The vice president may appoint other club members to help with publicity whenever s/he chooses to do so.

The secretary is responsible for taking minutes of the club’s meetings. S/he must submit these minutes to the proper personnel, and contact via email all the members of this organization regarding future events. Once the website is established, the secretary will submit the minutes to the webmaster.

The treasurer is responsible for the club finances. S/he must also balance the budget monthly, and handle the payment of guests and lecturers, and attain the advisor’s signature. This position is also responsible for handing in the financial books to ISU at the end of the academic year.
